We LOVE this place. Our friends have been going to Carpentaria with their families since they were kids and last year they had their wedding there and took all of us to the Palms for the reception and my husband and i fell in love. We were lucky enough to be up that way again this day and we had to go eat here. The staff is friendly. Its a very locals kind of place and thats so cool! Very old.school like we like. You grill your own food ( but they also have stuff they cook for you if you like that) then you get salad bar, bean ,potatoes ,bread its a lot of food. Great prices. We had a shrimp cocktail, crab cocktail, beer , a rib eye and a sirlion and out the door with tip and everything it was 70$ . And the seafood and steak are really great quality! And huge portions, we took a to go box for the road. If you live there or pass through we 100% reccomend you stop there

This restaurant (or server) charged me the wrong tip amount AGAIN. I don't think this was just another mistake and I'm starting to believe the servers give themselves some extra money in tips. I have called my credit card company to dispute this charge, and encourage everyone to double check their receipts (take pictures like I do) and report any fraudulent charges to their credit card company because this is considered FRAUD!

This is the most fun place! I have never been anywhere like this before. It is so tasty!

Best steaks coz you cook em yourself & best service and all you can eat salad bar...been there since 1929 I believe, so that speaks for itself!

OK, if you like Halibut or a nice Steak and your picky about how's it's cooked, THIS IS THE PLACE, because you can cook it yourself, yep that's right. No more whining about under cooked or over cooked, your the cook. Or you can have them cook it for a $1.00 extra and go back to your whining ways. Hope your hungry, limitless salad and baked potato.

The grill was so dirty. The place feels rundown. Service was good. The menu is very small. Lamb chops very tiny. Salad choices minimal. Food was fresh. Seafood overpriced. I don't know but we had very mixed feelings about this place. It has a lot of potential but not living up to it!

Excellent food for an affordable price! Much less than your typical steakhouse, but the food is just as good!

You can cook your own steak over an open flame gas grill next to the salad bar! Awesome idea, makes serving time quick, have a drink while watching over your steak or kabobs... atmosphere was wonderful! And drinks are definitely by eye not a measured shot. Worth the reasonable price.

This is a wonderful steak house, barbque your own place. The service is always friendly, and seems to be a favorite of the locals.They have live music and a full bar. They have been in business since 1912. Wow!! I remember stopping here as a child with my family on our way to or from Los Angeles. It is still one of my favorite places.

Wonderful and unique dining exclusive in a small town on the California Gold Coast. A restaurant, a well lit bar, and the entertainment capital of the town.

One of the few places I know that you can cook your own steak. Just think when you say you want it medium rare, you can make sure it's really medium rare cuz you cooked it yourself. On the weekends they have a great live band. Steak , a beer and good music. You can't beat it in this quaint little beach town.

Low pressure, pleasant way to spend some time and enjoy your own grilled meal. Salad bar, baked potatoes, beans and bread included. Meat dishes are served raw, and you season it and grill it yourself. Lots of fun

Where the locals go to share a drink and catch up on the towns best gossip or let loose to a favorite tune playing on the jukebox. On the weekends it gets lively as live bands will seduce you on to the dance floor and make u twirl like a dancing star! Great place for all ages and who's looking for a good time. The food is also amazing and here u can show off ur own cooking skills as well.

Really enjoyed this place! If i was younger and had the grill game i have now i would totally take a girl here i wanted to impress with my next level steak skills. What a deal, a steak, potato, salad, beans toast for 20 bucks you cant beat that!!! With my meal i also got the blood orange margarita, l loved it the bartender was generous with the tequila! As long as you can cook a steak you cant go wrong here! Pro tip season both sides and flip at 5 amd a half minutes

The food is good and the price is reasonable. You get to pick what kind of stake u want, then u cook it the way u want it.

We came to see the band action down at the palms. We enjoyed a nice dinner. The people here were nice the band great.

Wonderful restuarant and bar, rich in history where many have memories going back to childhood when we cooked our first steak to sitting around the bar for a drink as adults or enjoying the live music on stage.. A locals favorite..

This place is absolutely awful. The bartender was an aging spinster who was rude and too busy flirting with a regular to even get us a drink. Then she gave us attitude when we vocally called for her attention.

Its a landmark restaurant, we've been going there since i was a kid now i bring my kids,good family spot where you can eat good food and you can cook your meat yourself if you choose! Love that!

The Palms is one of the places locals like to go to Celebrate, Drink, Dance, & enjoy grilling one's own steak. Love coming here with local friends to acknowledge one another & eat some prime Carp food. They have a Full Bar here (hence why locals love it here) & live music too. <3

Will always be one of my favorite places to visit. Such a great staff. Mitch is a great personable bartender, my service was amazing all the way around. Thank you. Brought my Mom and Godmother. Have been dinning here for 30ish years.

The New York strip here is extremely good and quite tender. Also I tried out the cook your own meat and I had a load of fun.

Yeah, it's a dive bar, but it's a Carp gem. Full of locals and amazing history, including a few ghost stories. Unique, blast from the past place for dinner as well. Always stop here and Delgados when in town. Too bad Carp has been fully gentrified by Air B&B, but where in Cali has that not happened?

This spot is worth trying. They serve big portions for convenient rates. Consistently well kept and with awesome atmosphere. Will come back again.

You order your meat and cook it yourself on an indoor grill. They will cook it for you. The all you can eat salad bar is good. Also you are able to get bread, baked potatoes, and beans.The drinks are very good too.

Is a very nice location close to the beach. It was recommended to us from the pumpkin patch in ventura. The food has a great taste, the meat is fresh, and the best part is that you get to cook it the way you want. The sides are already made but you get the use the grill to cook the meat. The Palms has a home feel to it. Overall a must check out.

Good food reasonably priced, cook your own

Simple menu. Cook your own meat. Prime cut.... all you can eat salad, bread, baked potatoes and beans. They will cook it for you if you want. But if your cooking for the group its cool.

Fantastic customer service, fantastic steaks overall nice atmosphere. You don't need to dress up come as is. My brother took me there for my birthday on December 15th for the first time I definitely am going back the food was fantastic the salad was great and the customer service was superb at least for my first visit.

Great food, wish the butter had some kind of garlic flavor to it but the service is exceptional and the crab tasted really fresh.
